"Taking care of a worldly friend isn't as important as the meetings!"
by Lady Zombie inmy best friend, who is *gasp* "worldly" had a semi-major surgery monday.
she had asked me if she could recooperate at my place.
it's nice and quiet at my place and besides, she knows i'll spoil her rotten.. yesterday (thursday) i had to take her to her doctor's for a post surgery check when i got off of work.

We could have video of the the governing body in a sex orgy on tv and most witnesses would refuse to believe it...
That's very true.

I AM STILL A JEHOVAH'S WITNESS!!!
by What-A-Coincidence inapparently they never got my letter which i sent like a year ago.
i had corresponded with them by e-mail to ask them if i was 'announced' from the platform but the po was unaware.
now, they want me to send letter, again.

I agree with the people that are saying that sending them a letter is just playing their game. If you are truly out, you don't owe them anything. The less you have to do with them the better. Don't let them control you anymore. Stay away and don't look back.

They won't leave me alone!!!! What can I do?
by almostbitten ini'm new to this site.
i'm not a jw but have studied with them largely because i wanted to know for myself what jws believed and wanted to hear it from them, not from others (i.e.
catholics, baptists, methodists, etc.).

Do not discuss doctrine with them. It will never end. Tell her plainly that you are not interested in continuing a bible study or becoming a JW. Tell her that you do not believe the teachings of JW. If you want to, you can tell her that you would like to remain a friend but you would request that she not bring up a bible study anymore. You will probably never hear from her again. But you are in control. You can tell her how you feel very simply. Do not let her be in control.

cognac:
I hear you. Remember, you were a child. Your parents were the ones that made these decisions. I also was born into JW. I don't have exactly the same experiences as you but there was and still is many , many sad situations that have resulted from being in a JW family. And much of my extended family are still JWs.
You know the real truth now. Take that and make each day forward a better one. You can build relationships now with all those relatives that you couldn't have in the past. Look forward. Learn from the past but look ahead. You can't change the past.

Russel's view of Disfellowshipping
by not_yours ini read this watchtower the other day, november 15, 1984:.
for instance, in 1904 the watch tower societys first president, charles taze russell, wrote: the church is to withdraw from him its fellowship and any and all signs or manifestations of brotherhood.
(the new creation, page 290) .

To Be Or Not To Be?

1. stay in the organization and continue to be controlled.
the years will be spent earning your salvation into "paradise earth" without cease.

Leave, face the consequences, make the best of it, move on, be happy.
I agree. I can think of no pros to the choice of staying in. You can go on and make new friends and create new relationships. It is sad that some old relationships are broken or are never the same but there are sad choices for everyone in this world. You just have to make the best of it.
